Saint Conan the Gardener of Pamylia is commemorated by the Church on March 5. Born in Nazareth of Galilee, he later lived in the city of Mandona, where he worked as a humble gardener.

Saint Conan was known for his sincere heart, deep faith, and gentle spirit. Despite living a quiet life of labor, his devotion to Jesus Christ would lead him to a heroic martyrdom.

During the persecution under Emperor Decius (249–251 AD), Saint Conan was brought before authorities and commanded to renounce Christ. Instead, he boldly confessed his faith without hesitation.

The torturers drove nails into his feet and dragged him behind a chariot, subjecting him to unimaginable suffering. Yet through it all, Saint Conan remained steadfast. Finally collapsing from exhaustion, he surrendered his soul to God in prayer.

Saint Conan reminds us that even the simplest lives can bear the greatest witness to Christ. His martyrdom shows that holiness is not reserved for kings or scholars, but also for humble laborers who love God above all things.

May the courage of Saint Conan the Gardener inspire us to remain faithful to Christ no matter the cost.
