After the first few initial days were clouded by political headlines, Pope Leo XIV brought the spotlight back to the heart of his mission in Africa, where he traveled to Algeria, Cameroon, Angola, and Equatorial Guinea in a historic apostolic journey spanning April 13-23. Our EWTN News foreign correspondent Colm Flynn brings us the highlights of the trip. The former Deputy Director of the Holy See Press Office, Paloma García Ovejero, and National Catholic Register's Managing Editor Jonathan Liedl break down the headlines coming out of this papal journey, including Pope Leo XIV's papal plane presser on his return to Rome. And as the Church marks one year since Pope Francis' death - García Ovejero shares personal memories of Pope Francis and what it was like behind-the-scenes in the Holy See press office at the time, while Liedl speaks to the late pontiff's legacy and the main spiritual themes of his pontificate. And while St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Chicago has been closed nearly seven years, former parishioners still call it home and want to preserve it. Correspondent Mark Irons speaks with the local community, reports on parish closures around the country, and hears from a priest about how to move forward in hope.
