St. Anna of Novgorod, commemorated on February 10, was a holy princess, devoted wife, and faithful mother whose life shaped both Church and empire. As the wife of Great Prince Yaroslav the Wise, she gave her children a deep Christian upbringing rooted in faith in God, love of work, integrity, and learning.

Through her guidance, her son Mstislav became Great Prince of Kiev, while her daughter rose to become Queen of a Western European realm, spreading Christian influence beyond Rus’. After fulfilling her duties as princess and mother, St. Anna renounced the world, entering a monastery where she spent her remaining years in strict obedience, prayer, and humility.

She fell asleep in the Lord in 1056, leaving behind a legacy of holiness, maternal wisdom, and royal sanctity. St. Anna of Novgorod stands as a powerful witness to how Christian motherhood can shape nations and saints alike.
