Tuesday of the Second Week of Lent – Do What They Say, Not What They Do

On this Tuesday of the Second Week of Lent, we reflect on Our Lord’s powerful words:
“All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not according to their works.” (Matthew 23:3)
In today’s Lenten meditation, we confront two great disorders that weaken the Word of God in our time:
Hearers who judge the preacher instead of obeying the truth.
Preachers who seek applause instead of conversion.
Christ commands us to obey truth — even when those who preach it fail to live it perfectly. At the same time, He condemns cowardly shepherds who flatter vice and fear men more than God.
This sermon is a fiery call to:
Take preaching seriously
Reject curiosity and entertainment in religion
Demand truth, not flattery
Pray for bold, apostolic preachers
Become doers of the Word, not hearers only
The pulpit is not a theater.
The Word of God is not a performance.
It is fire. It is a hammer. It is salvation — or condemnation.
