This year, my beautiful friend Alivia Wysock taught me how to be grateful for just "one more day." Facing unimaginable tragedy after navigating infertility, Alivia and her husband faced seemingly insurmountable diagnoses for both of their previous daughters, Blaire and Callie, while in utero and tragically lost them both after stints in the NICU just days into their little lives.

Along the way, virtually every doctor insisted Alivia abort her children, suggesting they were less human because of their diagnoses and no longer worthy of life, but as their mother, Alivia knew the truth: her daughters are precious and worthy of the same dignity and chance at life as anyone else. They deserved to be born.
