We go further by distinguishing central and conjugate potency/form/act. Conjugate elements arise in scientific explanation (laws, correlations, functions), while central elements ground the concrete unity of things. Together, they form the intelligible structure of proportionate being.
From there, we develop Lonergan’s account of finality and emergence: reality is not static but a directed, developmental process in which higher integrations arise from lower manifolds. This allows for a unified view of science without reductionism, and a precise account of limitation, probability, and transcendence.
By the end, potency, form, and act appear not as abstractions, but as the dynamic structure of reality as known.
