What does beauty have to do with God? And why did Opus Dei completely change the way I see both? In this video, I’m sharing what I learned during a four-day silent retreat with Opus Dei at Murray Hill Place in New York City and how it radically transformed my understanding of beauty, home, and holiness.

We live in a culture obsessed with appearances—filtered perfection, endless comparison, and the constant chase for aesthetic approval. But true beauty isn’t about performance. It’s not vanity. It’s revelation.

Beauty is one of the transcendentals—along with Truth and Goodness—three ways we encounter the very nature of God Himself. Wherever beauty exists, God is speaking. And when we learn to see beauty rightly, it draws us out of ourselves and straight toward the divine.

During the retreat, I reflected deeply on Bethany—the home of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus—a place where Jesus felt truly at ease. A place of love, order, and peace. And I realized: every one of us is called to create our own Bethany, both in our homes and in our hearts. Whether you’re single, married, or in any season of life, you can cultivate beauty that makes others feel the peace of Christ.

I’ll also share how Dia Boyle, author of The Beauty of the Home, helped us unpack how beauty evangelizes—how a well-ordered, peaceful, and joyful home can preach the Gospel without words.
