The Cracker Barrel rebrand is another example of the "de-poeticization of life." The stripping of beauty, romance, and poetry from the seemingly small parts of life has made our world aesthetically sterile and bleak–from the grocery store, to the post office, to fast food chains. Beauty, and at the very least human-friendly design matters more than we think.
