Can the Bible take you out of the Catholic Church? Former Evangelical seminary professor Doug Beaumont thought so — until he started reading it more carefully. In this episode of Catholic Bible Highlights, Kenny Burchard sits down with Doug, author of Evangelical Exodus and With One Accord, to examine the two verses at the heart of the Catholic-Protestant debate on salvation. James 2:24 — the only verse in all of Scripture containing the phrase "faith alone" — directly contradicts the foundational dogma of Protestantism. And Romans 3:28, the verse Luther used to build sola fide, had the word "alone" added to it by Luther himself. The Bible didn't lead Doug out of Catholicism. It led him in.
