The U.S. Supreme Court is weighing a case on whether the government can fund the nation’s first religious public charter school—St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School in Oklahoma. The case centers on whether charter schools can be religious while receiving public tax dollars, raising major questions about the separation of church and state. Supporters argue it’s about educational choice and religious freedom, while opponents warn it could force taxpayers to fund religious indoctrination. With Justice Amy Coney Barrett recused, Chief Justice John Roberts may cast the deciding vote. A ruling is expected by late June. Capitol Hill correspondent Erik Rosales reports.
