Fr. Cajetan Cuddy, O.P. reflects on Martha’s encounter with Jesus in John 11. Though Martha recognizes many truths about others and about God, Jesus draws her beyond observation into a personal encounter.
Christ does not remain an object of reflection. He speaks directly: “I am the resurrection and the life… Do you believe this?” The Gospel reveals that faith is not merely seeing or understanding relationships from a distance, but being drawn into union with Him.
Jesus addresses each of us personally, inviting us to respond: “Yes, Lord, I have come to believe.”
