DESCRIPTION
Ephesians 2:8-9 is the verse every Catholic has had thrown at them — in conversations with non-Catholic friends, in text messages, on Facebook. "Not of works!" But here's what your Protestant friends almost never quote: verse 10. Or verses 11 through 22. Or Ephesians 4, 5, and 6. In this episode of Catholic Bible Highlights, Kenny Burchard reads all of Ephesians chapter 2 in context, showing that the "works" Paul rejects are the works of the Mosaic Law — not obedience to Jesus. Catholics love Ephesians 2:8-9. We just believe the whole chapter. This often-used "protestant panic button" proves once again that "A text without a context becomes a proof-text for a pretext."
