Matthew 11: 25 - 30

Anchored in the feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, let us turn to Matthew 11:25–30 (“hidden/revealed,” “come to me… I will give you rest,” “take my yoke… for I am gentle and humble of heart”). It highlights that, amid opposition and hardship in Jesus’ ministry, Jesus still rejoices and speaks heart‑to‑heart with the Father—showing that holiness is not apathy but deep interiority and love.

Hidden and revealed: God’s plans are both concealed and unveiled to the humble (“babes”). The “heart” is presented as the locus of sincerity and authenticity (with a quotation from Pope Francis’ Dilexit Nos).

Rest in Christ: Jesus offers real rest to the weary—those burdened by suffering, caregiving, war, or studies/exams—grounded in the certainty that we are loved and that God remains in control.

The yoke: Christ’s yoke is understood not as crushing weight but as a shared, gentle obligation to join Jesus in bringing rest to others—not being indifferent, but welcoming, understanding, and alleviating suffering.

Let us try to repay love with love and devotion to the Sacred Heart as giving one’s whole self to Jesus.
