On June 13, 2025, Pope Leo XIV will preside over his first Ordinary Public Consistory for the approval of several Causes for Canonization.
The event will take place at 9:00 AM CET in the Consistory Hall at the Vatican and will be broadcast live by EWTN.
During the Consistory, the final approval will be given for the canonization of eight blesseds whose causes were advanced under the pontificate of Pope Francis. These are extraordinary men and women — both lay and religious — who lived in different times and places, but all united by a life offered to God and others.
Pope Leo XIV has summoned the cardinals to lead a liturgical celebration and preside over the final vote, which will determine the official canonization dates.
This historic moment marks the final step in the journey to sainthood for:
Bartolo Longo (Italy)
José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros (Venezuela)
Peter To Rot (Papua New Guinea)
Vincenza Maria Poloni (Italy)
Ignatius Choukrallah Maloyan (Turkey)
María del Monte Carmelo Rendiles Martínez (Venezuela)
Maria Troncatti (Italy/Ecuador)
Pier Giorgio Frassati (Italy)
After the Consistory’s approval, the dates for their official canonizations will be announced.
