The 22-member Arab League, the European Union, and 17 other nations have issued a joint call for Hamas to disarm and relinquish power. The declaration—signed at a UN conference earlier in the week—also condemns Hamas’ October 7th attack on Israel and urges the group to hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority. Meanwhile, President Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, visited a humanitarian site in Gaza. Witkoff spent over five hours on the ground to assess the situation and help plan aid delivery. Ambassador Alberto Fernandez, a Middle East diplomat and EWTN News contributor, shares how significant the Arab League’s call for Hamas to disarm is. He also discusses whether Witkoff’s visit could help improve aid efforts in Gaza, and whether he sees any chance of a ceasefire in the near future.
