For the first time in over a month, a Papal General Audience was held in Rome—this time with Pope Leo XIV presiding over the event. This marked a historic moment as Pope Leo led the audience, continuing Pope Francis' Jubilee series on the theme of "Jesus Christ, Our Hope." In his address, the Holy Father emphasized that "every word of the Gospel is like a seed sown in the soil of our lives," highlighting the importance of the soil as not only our hearts but also the world, the community, and the Church. Joining from Rome is Dr. Matthew Bunson, Vice President and Editorial Director for EWTN News, to discuss the significance of Pope Leo's first general audience, the themes emerging in his homilies and addresses, and the enthusiasm surrounding the new pope. Bunson also shares the challenges Pope Leo faces as he settles into the Petrine office and the ongoing sense of mourning following Pope Francis' passing one month ago.
