In Hong Kong, closing arguments have begun in the national security trial of Catholic pro-democracy advocate Jimmy Lai. The 77-year-old media tycoon was arrested in 2020 under a Beijing-backed national security law. Lai remains in solitary confinement, with reports alleging he has been deprived of medical care and access to the Eucharist. Prosecutors say Lai continued to make requests for sanctions and other so-called "hostile activities" even after his arrest. As the trial nears its conclusion, President Trump stated that he will do "everything" to help save Jimmy Lai ahead of the verdict. Senior Fellow at the Gatestone Institute and author of The Coming Collapse of China, Gordon Chang, joins to share what happened in the courtroom, when a verdict might be expected, and the significance of Trump’s potential involvement in the case.
