People keep trying to give Fr. Giuseppe, CFR a smartphone. He keeps saying no. Not because it wouldn't help — he admits it probably would — but because the vow of poverty he's taken isn't about being efficient. It's about having empty hands, so there's room left for God to work. In this reflection, he explains what he calls "divine inefficiency": giving up the human drive to control, to acquire, to always be doing — and trusting that when we empty ourselves of the world, God fills the space instead.
