Lawmakers in New York are considering a measure legalizing assisted suicide, with the proposal having passed the House and Democratic state senators weighing a vote. Now church leaders are speaking out. Cardinal Timothy Dolan of the Archdiocese of New York wrote an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal expressing shock and concern, arguing that the government risks deciding some lives aren’t worth living. Cardinal Dolan joins to discuss his piece, Governor Kathy Hochul’s mental health efforts but support for legalization of assisted suicide, and his response to advocates who say this is a secular issue.
