The White House has sent its first list of DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) spending cuts to Congress, seeking to rescind over $9 billion in already appropriated federal spending. The package includes major cuts to foreign aid, public broadcasting, and UN programs, drawing praise from Republicans and criticism from Democrats. House Speaker Mike Johnson singled out PBS programming, while Democratic lawmakers pushed back on defunding public media and PEPFAR, a Bush-era foreign aid program.
