The Vatican’s Sacred Music School is helping Catholics around the world sing ancient Gregorian chant through a new initiative called “Let’s Sing with the Pope.” Inspired by Pope Leo XIV’s recent singing of the Regina Coeli from the balcony of St. Peter’s Square, the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, in collaboration with the Dicastery for Communication, is producing short educational video tutorials on social media. The goal is to help the faithful actively participate in liturgical celebrations with the Holy Father. Fr. Robert Mehlhart, OP, who leads the project, teaches viewers how to read and sing simple notes while explaining the meaning of the Latin texts. With nearly one million views in just one week, the response has been overwhelming. This initiative seeks to glorify God through song, and even non-believers are being moved by it; as one commenter wrote, “Father you made an atheist sing with the pope.” EWTN Vatican journalist Bénédicte Cedergren has the story.
