In anticipation of his upcoming canonization in Rome, and for the first time, Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati’s relics were brought from Turin to the Dominican Basilica of Santa Maria sopra Minerva in Rome, coinciding with the Jubilee of Youth. Thousands of pilgrims have had the opportunity to venerate his relics, placed beside the remains of St. Catherine of Siena, one of the Church’s greatest saints. Brother Alessandro Monti, a friar at Santa Maria sopra Minerva, highlights the spiritual connection between Frassati and St. Catherine, despite living centuries apart. Frassati was inspired by Catherine’s writings and followed her example by becoming a Lay Dominican. The two serve as powerful inspirations, illustrating a “chain of holiness,” where one saint motivates others to holiness. EWTN Vatican Correspondent Valentina Di Donato has more.
