Pope Leo XIV celebrated the Solemnity of the Assumption at the Pontifical Parish of St. Thomas of Villanova in Castel Gandolfo, reflecting on Mary’s glorification in body and soul.
In his homily, the pope challenged modern, consumerist standards of beauty, saying true beauty is revealed in the lasting signs of love.
“Love is humanity’s most beautiful adornment,” Leo said. “Love transfigures, transforms, ennobles and lifts us up.”
He invited Catholics to recognize “small glimpses of heaven” in children, the elderly, families and everyday acts of charity, and concluded: “Let us follow the light of the Risen Lord, changing course if necessary.”
