Villanova University, one of several Augustinian colleges in the U.S., is celebrating the historic election of alumnus Pope Leo XIV, formerly Cardinal Robert Prevost, who graduated in 1977. Bells rang out from the campus’s iconic St. Thomas of Villanova Church as students and faculty marked the momentous occasion. Joining to reflect on this milestone is Father Rob Hagan, an Augustinian priest and longtime friend of the new pope. He shares insights into Pope Leo XIV’s character, their decades-long friendship, and what the first American pope could mean for the Church in America.
