We hear that we are called to “participate in Mass,” but what’s really our role? The catechism explains that the liturgy is the “work of God by the people of God” — that means when we participate in Mass, we are actually participating in Jesus's offering of his life for us to the Father in the Holy Spirit! And that makes Mass a pretty big deal.
