As part of year-long celebrations marking the anniversary of the canonization of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton—the first American-born saint—pilgrims are taking part in two unique journeys. One pilgrimage retraces St. Elizabeth’s original route from Baltimore to the National Shrine in her honor in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The other, known as the Camino of Maryland, begins at the shrine and spans 218 miles over 14 days, inspired by Spain’s famed Camino de Santiago. Rob Judge, Executive Director of the National Shrine of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, joins to discuss the significance of these pilgrimages, the rich Catholic history rooted in the U.S., and what else is planned for this special anniversary year.
